German Chocolate Pie

March 1, 2019 By Nostalgic Foodie

I found this recipe in Gourmet Cooking with a Flair, and let’s just say this is a fun and quirky cookbook from 1961 with a penchant for basic-yet-wacky twists on classics, and introducing recipes that seem very … 1960s.

  • 1 cup whipping cream

Instructions

  • Pre-bake the pie shell according to the package instructions.

Both the pie and crust taste better if removed from the refrigerator 20 minutes before serving.

About

There's something about an old cookbook that brings back an era of simplicity — great food that pleases the family and the soul. So many family recipes are lost to time, and I want to preserve them. I hope you enjoy this project as much as I do.
